Adaptive Gymnastics Coordinator at KW Gymnastics. Owner and Counsellor of Spark Child and Youth Counselling
Asifa grew up doing gymnastics in Alberta. She was first introduced to working with children with alternative needs when she was sixteen and a young athlete with autism joined a recreational class she was coaching. This sparked a passion for helping children with developmental delays, mental health concerns, and behaviour difficulties achieve success.
Asifa studied Child Psychology, Social Work, Child and Family Counselling, and Play Therapy and has done work regarding the impact of adverse childhood experiences on neurodevelopment.
With over fifteen year of experience in hospitals, schools and, residential facilities supporting children with special needs and behaviour difficulties she is excited to combine and share her knowledge and passion with the gymnastics community.
Asifa is the Adaptive Gymnastics Coordinator at KW Gymnastics as well as a coach in the women’s competitive program and a judge in Ontario.
